Medica Scientia Innovation Research (MedSIR) is sponsoring the XV Annual Conference of the International Society for Clinical Bioethics (ISCB), this year focused on Paediatrics, in conjunction with the Borja Institute of Bioethics-Ramon Llull University (IBB-URL), and the Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu (IRSJD).

The International Society for Clinical Bioethics was founded with the aim to facilitate contacts and information exchange between those working in clinical bioethics and related fields in different parts of the world; encouraging the development of research and teaching in clinical bioethics and related fields. The ISCB was created for educational, but also for scientific purposes to encourage the development of research and teaching in clinical bioethics, and to uphold the value of free, open and reasoned discussion on issues in clinical bioethics, among other objectives.

This year the Conference will take place in Barcelona on September 20-21 supported by Medica Scientia Innovation Research and will focus the attention in clinical practice and research in paediatrics (e.g., paediatric oncology, nanotechnology, etc) in an interdisciplinary approach. The involvement of children in healthcare processes and clinical research is a new challenge and it requires acquiring knowledge and skills to be able to develop shared decision-making and information processes.

Recently, on March 20, a workshop on Paediatric Regulation was organized by the European Medicines Agency in order identify and discuss potential improvements to the implementation of the European Union’s regulatory framework specific for paediatric medicines. The XV Annual Conference of the ISCB will be a good scenario to discuss about paediatrics, and its future development and challenges from an interdisciplinary approach. The XV Annual Conference will feature keynote lectures from experts at international level, with parallel sessions and poster presentations.
